Pride strike twice but rain forces another abandonment

KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Rain continued to ruin the second round match in the Regional Four-Day Championship between Jamaica Scorpions and Barbados Pride, allowing just 71 minutes play on the second day here Friday.

Resuming on 77 without loss in the day/night affair at Sabina Park, Scorpions reached 111 for two in the 18.3 overs possible, before the inclement weather from the opening day returned to force the abandonment.

Only 14 overs were possible on Thursday’s first day.

Unlike then, however, Pride had the better of the exchanges this time, claiming both openers for the addition of 34 runs, with seamer Kevin Stoute (2-39) accounting for both wickets.

First, he had John Campbell lbw in the evening’s sixth over after the left-hander had added just two to his overnight 42, with the score on 85

And Garth Garvey had added eight to his overnight 31 when he was caught at the wicket, leaving Scorpions on 96 for two.

When the rains arrived, left-hander Assad Fudadin was unbeaten on 15 and partnered by Brandon King on six.
