Netrockers maintained their undefeated run in the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) 2017/2018 Senior League, edging Botofago 3-2 Sunday at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground, Linden.
It was a night highlighted by free kick conversions as Shane Luckie, Levy Fraser and Joel Isaacs converted from the dead ball situations respectively.
Luckie handed Netrockers the lead with a curling strike from just outside the box in the 13th minute.
However, Botofago equalised two minutes later through Jamal Haynes. Tyrone Lewis gave Botafogo the lead at halftime lead with a 40th minute strike.
The second half belonged to Netrockers as two unanswered goals sealed the win. Levy Fraser unleashed a curling strike from 21 yards outside the penalty area into the back of the net in the 59th minute to level proceedings and the victory was secured in the 78th minute when Joel Isaacs uncorked a right-foot, 30-yard thunderbolt into the roof of the net.
Netrockers now occupy the second position on six points while Botofago remain pointless and drop to the seventh position.
In another fixture, Amelia’s Ward Panthers and Silver Shattas battled to a 0-0 result. With the outcome, Amelia’s Ward move into the third position on three points while Silver Shattas remain in sixth place on a point.
The competition resumes tomorrow at the same venue with another doubleheader. The eventual top four finishers in the tournament will walk away with trophies and cash incentives.
