Fruta Conquerors defeated New Amsterdam (NA) United while holders Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Western Tigers battled to a stalemate when Season III of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) ‘Elite League’ commenced on Sunday.

Fruta Conquerors, winner of the recently concluded ‘Big Four Championship’, secured the hard-fought win compliments of an Eon Alleyne strike at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora.

The versatile Alleyne fashioned the winner in the 78th minute, racing past the defensive line to latch onto a through pass, before rounding the goalkeeper and finishing into the empty net…..
