New Amsterdam teams lose in latest GFF Elite League matches

Defending champion Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Den Amstel secured convincing wins when Season Three of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) ‘Elite League’ continued  Sunday at the No.#5 ground, West Coast Berbice.

The army unit outflanked New Amsterdam (NA) United 2-0. Jerome Richardson and Delroy Ferdinand were on target in the 45th+1 and 74th minute respectively while Den Amstel defeated fellow newcomer Cougars 4-2. Two goals on each side of halftime secured the win for the West Demerara outfit.

Morgan Denny and Gideon Payne were on target in the 21st and 25th minute apiece while Kevon Ward and Keswyn Fraser netted in the 30th and 49th minute respectively.

For Cougars, Mark Wronge scored in the 49th minute while an own goal in the 30th minute helped double Cougars’ total. The event resumes Friday  at the Tucville Community ground.

In the opening fixture at 18:00rs, Milerock will oppose Western Tigers while Fruta Conquerors will battle Ann’s Grove at 20:00hrs in the feature showdown.
