Metro sponsorship to power Boxing Day horseracing

Christmas came early for the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club (KMTC)

On Wednesday, Metro Office and Computer Supplies continued their sponsorship agreement for the traditional Boxing Day horse-racing meet scheduled to be staged at the Bush Lot, Corentyne track.

During a simple ceremony at the company’s Quamina Street location, officials were on hand to present the top cash incentive of $1 million for the feature C and Lower 1800m race.

The main event is expected to feature steeds like defending champion, Golden Blue Echo. In its way this time around would be Vera’s Finally, Brave Sky, Lady Budapest, Goodwill Boy, Honey Flow, Just Call Me Boss, Princess She’s Not and Storm Bird among others are also touted to compete.

Other events carded for the day are L-Non Winners, F and Lower, Two-Year-old Guyana Bred Open, L Class Open, H and Lower, and J3 and K and L Lower.

Assistant Manager of the company, Ariff Baksh, moments before presenting the $1M cheque and massive trophy to Justice Cecil Kennard, the Honorary President of the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club, stated how happy the establishment was to sponsor the biggest prizes of the day.

According to Kennard, the entity has been onboard with the Boxing Day meet for over two decades, but has been sponsoring the cash prizes for the main race for about a decade now.

The day’s activities will be held in strict adherence to the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.

The action starts at 13:30h and admission to the venue is $1,200 for adults and $600 for children.
