Losing immature fruits and flowers

Last week I had many enquiries about blossoms, fruits and flowers falling before they could mature and what needs to be done to correct the situation.

Like I have said previously with the heavy rainfall and flooding in some areas, these problems are expected along with fungus and pest.

With the heavy rainfall, most if not all the nutrients would be washed away from the soil and this would cause flowering and fruit trees laden with buds to go into shock and lose the buds and small fruits.

Make sure that there is proper drainage around the root structure. Mould up around the roots and make a mound approximately 15 inches high. Add one packet of Blue Corn Fertilizer divided into two equal parts around a medium size tree. It would take at least two – three weeks to dissolve.  Repeat two to three times until you see improvement.

For smaller plants, for instance a gallon size pot, use approximately two tablespoons. The larger the tree or plant, the more Blue Corn Fertilizer you would need to add around it.

Until next week, Happy Gardening.
