Nineteen media workers today walked out of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Annual Officers’ Conference to protest the treatment received at the hands of the organizers who subsequently said that the instructions were that the media be kept out of earshot of sensitive information.

Notorious escapee from Brazil jail held in Lethem

Police ranks of the Mounted Branch stationed in Lethem, whilst on patrol yesterday in the Takutu River area, detained for questioning, a male with a foreign accent who upon seeing the ‘troopers’ began acting in a suspicious manner, the police said in a statement today.

Vessel to aid monitoring of Guyana’s fishing resources – Chief Fisheries Officer

As efforts continue to monitor the country’s marine resources, the Ministry of Agriculture’s  Department of Fisheries has budgeted $54M for a vessel to monitor boats fishing in the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) Chief Fisheries Officer, Denzil Roberts told the Department of Public Information (DPI) that the procuring of the vessel later this year will vastly enhance the agency’s ability to monitor local and international fishing vessels licensed to operate in local waters.
