Presidential Guard (PG) were crowned champions of the fourth Police Commissioner’s Cup T20 Inter-Division competition Sunday after defeating Headquarters (HQ) by 48 runs in the final at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.

‘F’ Division earned themselves third place after defeating ‘G’ Division by seven wickets in their playoff.

Batting first, Presidential Guard, despite consistently losing wickets managed to reach 151-9 from their allotted overs.

They then restricted Headquarters to 103 all out in the final over.

In the Presidential Guard’s innings, skipper, Kester Hardcourt gave his team a good start with an innings of  34 which included two fours and two sixes.

However, upon his dismissal, Presidential Guard found themselves 113-6 before Nkoli Reddy smashed four fours and a six in an unbeaten innings of 31 from 15 balls. Stephon Harris was the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of 3-23 while Troy Benn and Kevon Boodie bagged 2-20 and 2-31 respectively.

In reply, Boodie at the top of the order made a quick-fire 22 while Dwayne Dodson continued to rotate the strike and hold the middle for a vital 29 but the innings imploded after the two departed.

Pernel London finished with 3-15 from his four overs, Paul Tyndall bagged 2-26 while mix up in communication saw three run outs.

Meanwhile, in the third place playoff, ‘G’ Division struggled to get runs and were shot out for 114 with Linden David top scoring with 23 and Shakel Vyphius adding 21.

Both batsmen struck three fours and one six. Vishal Jaigobin was once again among the wickets, picking up 3-31 from his four overs while Marvin Peters and Devon Joseph picked up two wickets each. In reply, ‘F’ Division needed all but 13 overs to complete the win, reaching 115-3. Shiveshwar Sankar top scored with 37 and Rawle Haynes managed 34 while Lennox Andrews exploded at the end with 20 to see them to victory.
