Shadick mounts legal challenge to contentious local gov’t changes

Guyana Elections Com-mission (GECOM) commissioner Bibi Shadick has moved to the High Court to challenge the activation of seven new local government areas (LGAs) and the restructuring of 14 others, saying that unlawful actions taken by both the Communities Minister and the Chief Election Officer would render all voting in them at the upcoming November 12th polls void.

PM orders full probe of questioned spending at Chronicle

Following a report that more than $5 million was spent in three months on social media and other items, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo has ordered a full investigation into the spending at the state-owned Guyana National Newspapers Limited (GNNL) under the leadership of General Manager Sherod Duncan.

Foulis boy died from perforated lung

As the police await legal advice, an autopsy performed on the remains of Satesh Sookdeo, the 21-year-old man who was stabbed to death on Saturday evening allegedly by his father at their Foulis, East Coast Demerara home, stated that he died as a result of a perforation of the lung due to a stab wound to the chest.
