West Ruimveldt waltzes off with Smalta Girls Pee Wee c/ships

West Ruimveldt walked away with the Smalta Girls Pee-Wee Football Championships, defeating North Georgetown 3-1 yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

It was the first title for the traditional giant, who grabbed the opening goal in the 13th minute compliments of a Seona France effort. This lead remained heading into the halftime break.

Upon the resumption, West Ruimveldt doubled their lead in the 21st minute as France made her presence felt once more.

North Georgetown eventually pulled one back in the 27th minute, as star forward Martha Chance got into the scoring act.

However, any hope of a comeback was quickly extinguished, with Ashanna Rajkumar recording a timely strike one minute later.

In the third place playoff, South Ruimveldt edged St. Pius 1-0. Fayon Harry found the back of the net in the 44th minute.

Division match. Sheriann Foster etched her name on the scorer’s sheet in the 47th minute.

In the 7-8th Positional Section, Genesis squeaked past Tucville 3-2. Giselle Williams, Tofama Clement and Janeah Phoenix netted in the 13th, 22nd and 47th minute respectively. For the loser, Fantasia Clarke and Twanna Williams etched their names on the scorer’s sheet in the fifth and 18th minute correspondingly.
