PPP calls on Granger gov’t to resign

The People’s Progressive Party is calling on the David Granger-led coalition to resign now in keeping with the provisions of the constitution on the approval of a no confidence motion against the government, and it has written to the Chief Justice asking that it be heard should government seek an ex parte injunction to stay the successful no-confidence motion.

ITTO wants investment in forest restoration to help cut carbon losses

Concerns that tropical forest degradation is responsible for even more carbon losses than deforestation has prompted the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) to issue a call for investment in restoration through landscape approaches linked to supply chains, an undertaking which it says is critical to limiting the global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees centigrade.

Newly elected Sea Defence Board commits to scientific approaches

The Sea Defence Board has committed to implementing scientific approaches to planning for future interventions to the country’s sea and river defences while emphasis will be placed on sustaining structurally adequate and functional sea and river defences According to the Ministry of Public Infrastructure (MoPI), this announcement was part of a statement, made when the board held its first meeting last Friday to discuss their plans, functions and focus towards the rehabilitation, protection and preventative works under the Sea Defence Department.

Dear Editor, If the logic of those who believe 34 votes were required for the no-confidence motion to be legal is followed because 33 votes is really only half the House after rounding up, presumably the Government is also illegal as it has never had a proper majority (34 votes being a majority according to the same people).
