(Jamaica Gleaner) Jamaican global telematics company, Amber Connect, through its South African operations, embarked on installing its state-of-the-art vehicle telematics and software systems in a wide array of law enforcement vehicles and motorcycles during December 2017.
This was part of an ongoing pilot project to assist the South African Police Service in managing and policing its operational activities in various crime-prone areas in South Africa.
Brigadier Anthony Gopaul, head of border policing, said, “At the South African Police Service we are always looking for innovative, reliable and cutting-edge ways to reduce crime and increase the effectiveness of law enforcement within our borders. After extensive market research around the world, we selected the Amber Connect product due to its highly advanced telematics and comprehensive fleet management systems, which we found to be unparalleled worldwide. This system not only provides us with state-of-the-art crime prevention tools, it gives us the ability to manage our fleets more effectively.”
South Africa is one of Amber Connect’s strongest platforms on the African Continent, and being the head office for its African operations makes it an ideal jumping-off point for rapid penetration of the very promising broader African market.
“With an ever-accelerating demand for innovation within the security and law enforcement vertical, Amber Connect with its real-time tracking capability, comprehensive back office reporting systems and innovative system updates is truly fit for purpose for our security partners,” said Dushyant Savadia, founder and chief executive officer of Amber Connect.

We expect to derive a great deal of learning from this pilot in South Africa and look forward to applying those insights in future developments and innovations that we will bring to our partners over the coming months.”
