No matter how diligently we searched during our photographer’s visit to the Stabroek Market last week, we could find no evidence of any vegetable on sale at a unit price of above $100.00. It is at times like these that we can be assured of our self-sufficiency as a nation but when, as well, we are baffled over the sloth with which we are proceeding towards our rightful place as the food basket of the region.
