Lab technician robbed in front of GPL

A lab technician was on Thursday robbed at gunpoint just in front of the Guyana Power and Light Head office on Main Street.

Stabroek News understands that the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when Tamara Gibbs, a lab technician attached to the Georgetown Public Hospital was confronted by a man armed with a gun just as she was about to enter the compound of the power company to pay her electricity bill.

Reports are that the man pointed a gun at her and demanded that she hand over her valuables after which he jumped onto a waiting motorcycle and made good his escape along Main Street.

Among the items she was robbed of were her handbag containing $10,000 cash; a cellphone valued $20,000 and other personal documents.

A report was made to the police which have prompted investigations into the matter.
