Father and son charged with wounding in-law

A father and son were granted their release on bail last Friday after they denied wounding an in-law.

Eshwar Chatterpaul and his son Hamishwar Chatterpaul were read a joint charge by Georgetown Magistrate Judy Latchman. The charge stated that on December 27th, 2017, at Lot 5 Edun Street, Tucville, they unlawfully wounded Dwayne Hetemeyer.

Both men denied the charge.

The wounding allegedly occurred in front of their home at Tucville.

According to the prosecutor’s case, Hetemeyer accompanied the mother of his child to her parents’ home to collect a few items. It was then that Eshwar, his father-in-law, allegedly approached him with a cutlass, resulting in an argument and a scuffle. Hamishwar then allegedly joined in the scuffle and dealt the complainant several cuffs about his body. Each defendant was granted $100,000 bail and they are expected to make their next court appearance on February 9th.
