Pensioner robbed after withdrawal from Scotia Bank

A North Ruimveldt pensioner was yesterday afternoon robbed of over half a million dollars after making a withdrawal from Scotia Bank on Robb Street.

Police said the money was intended to pay Whitfield Wright’s employees. The robbery occurred sometime around 1.30 pm.

Wright, 74, after making a withdrawal of $527,000 cash from the bank proceeded home in his motor car. As the  man entered his home at Mittelholzer Street, Festival City, North Ruimveldt he was attacked.

His attacker who was unmasked entered the yard behind him and followed him into his house. The gunman then held him at gunpoint and demanded that he hand over the cash. Wright, police said, handed over the cash that was contained in the yellow envelope and the bandit  made good his escape on his motor cycle in an unknown direction.
