The police in ‘C’ Division are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was discovered in a trench at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara, yesterday morning.
The man has been identified as Sukhdeo Deonarine, whose lifeless body was discovered by residents in the community around 10 am lying face down in the trench. “After I hear about the body get find, I run out to see what was happening and I see he [Deonarine] lying face down in the trench on he face. He did already dead,” a resident related to this newspaper.
The police were immediately summoned after the discovery.
While no foul play is suspected, the police are awaiting an autopsy to conclusively pronounce on the cause of death.
Prior to his death, Deonarine was seen drinking with a group of men in the area.
However, residents related that he was not known in the area.
Deonarine’s body is currently at the Lykens Funeral Parlour.
