A Lodge resident was yesterday cleared of a robbery, after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) advised that the charge against him be withdrawn.

Lennox Cort, of 1717 Norton Street, Lodge, who was charged with robbery, was expected to go on trial before Magistrate Judy Latchman in Georgetown.

During yesterday’s hearing, however, police prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves told the court that the DPP advised that the charge be withdrawn. At an earlier hearing, the prosecutor had informed the court of the complainant’s unwillingness to proceed with the matter.

Although Cort was acquitted, he is still facing several other charges, including attempted murder.
