Miner remanded over North West wounding

A miner was remanded to prison on Friday after he was charged with wounding another man.

Ronald Miguel, 36, is accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Terrence Welch, with intent to maim disfigure or disable, on January 25th, 2018, in the North West District.

Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield objected to bail being granted, while noting that the complainant remained a patient at the Mabaruma Regional Hospital.

Miguel was later denied bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and the matter was adjourned until February 20th, when it will be heard at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court.
