The Mayor and Town Clerk, councillors— past and present—as well as family members of the late city councillor Junior Garrett, gathered for an extraordinary statutory meeting on Wednesday in his honour.

Garrett passed away last Monday, approximately an hour after making an appearance at a finance committee meeting at the Mayor and City Council.

Also present among those gathered in his honour was former Mayor Hamilton Green, who was one of many to deliver remarks during the time of reflection.

Councillor Welton Clarke, in his remarks, like his fellow council men and women, spoke highly of Garrett’s character, and painted him as indispensable, given his breadth of knowledge on matters of the council and finances in particular.

“…I look across to my left and there is the chair where no one can occupy physically and no one can occupy with the intellect, the acumen and the professionalism of Junior Garrett…that man was a stalwart…that is a man who was humble, he was upright, he was practical, he was forceful and to the point…” Clarke stated.
