St Rose’s building to be demolished at cost of $16.9m

Demolition of the St Rose’s High School is expected to begin during the Easter holidays with displaced students being housed in other buildings within the school’s compound until such time as a new building is constructed.

This is according to Minister of State Joseph Harmon who announced the award of a $16,930,000 contract to PD Contracting for the demolition.  When the bids were opened on December 5th last year, the engineer’s estimate for the project was $30m and the bids ranged from $11.8m to $34m.

Harmon noted at Thursday’s post-cabinet press briefing that this was one of three contracts granted a no objection at the last Cabinet meeting.

The other contracts awarded were a $16.2 million contract to A&N Enterprises for rehabilitation of the Ruimveldt Police Station and $25.1 million to Digital Technology for the supply of multimedia equipment for the National Centre for Education Resource Development (NCERD).
