US Embassy says applications open for young leaders initiative

The US Embassy yesterday announced the opening of the application period for the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Professional Fellows Program. YLAI applications are now being accepted at https://ylai.state.gov.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, YLAI will this year bring 250 young entrepreneurs from the Caribbean and Latin America to the United States for business and social entrepreneurship training, a release from the US Embassy said.

Entrepreneurs between the ages of 25 and 35 are encouraged to apply.  Applicants must have at least two years of experience as an entrepreneur in their own business or social venture, and be a resident and citizen of Guyana (or one of the eligible countries in the Caribbean or Latin America).

The release said that YLAI empowers entrepreneurs to strengthen their capacity to launch and advance their entrepreneurial ideas and effectively contribute to social and economic development in their communities.  To date, eight young Guyanese entrepreneurs have participated in the YLAI Professional Fellows Program.
