Body of missing Mahaicony guard found

Rakesh Bhajanram

The body of Mahaicony guard Rakesh Bhajanram, who went missing three weeks ago, was discovered yesterday at the Burma Road, East Coast Demerara.

Bhajanram, 34, who was a guard at the Mahaicony Primary School for eight years, was reported missing by his sister.  Relatives had indicated that Bhajanram was last seen on Tuesday, January 30th, when relatives took him to the Mahaicony Hospital, where he received medical treatment before being sent home.

Bhajanram’s eldest sister previously told this newspaper that her brother suffered from a slight mental problem and she feared that something had happened to him.

Relatives told Stabroek News yesterday that the family received a call about the body being found.

The family later identified the body of the missing man.

A post-mortem examination is to be conducted next Monday to determine the cause of his death.

Family members indicated that although they were saddened at the discovery, they were relieved that Bhajanram’s body was found.
