A post-mortem examination has determined that Mahaicony guard Rakesh Bhajanram, who went missing at the end of last month, died by drowning.

Bhajanram, 34, who was a guard at the Mahaicony Primary School for eight years, was reported missing after relatives said he was last seen on Tuesday, January 30th, when they took him to the Mahaicony Hospital, where he received medical treatment before being sent home.

Bhajanram’s eldest sister previously told this newspaper that her brother suffered from a slight mental problem and she feared that something had happened to him. His body was subsequently found at Burma, East Coast Demerara, on February 22nd.

Relatives confirmed the findings of the post-mortem examination, which was conducted yesterday, to this newspaper.

Bhajanram was also laid to rest yesterday at the Longwood Burial Ground.
