Siparuta resident held over shotgun

A thirty-nine-year-old Siparuta, Corentyne River, Berbice resident was yesterday arrested after police found a gun and a quantity of ammunition under his bed, police last night said.

The arrest was made sometime around 11:20 am. The police said ranks found the illegal weapon, an unlicensed single-barrel twelve- gauge shotgun and fifty live matching cartridges hidden in a suitcase under the farmer’s bed.

The man is expected to be arraigned today.
