Mechanic charged with receiving stolen Hummer shocks

A mechanic was on Monday released on $60,000 bail after denying that he received stolen shock absorbers.

It is alleged that Aubrey Evans on March 2nd at Brickdam received from Randy Smith three Hummer shock absorbers, valued $210,000, knowing same to be feloniously stolen and property of Anthony Singh.

Evans pleaded not guilty to the charge. His attorney stated that Smith brought the items to his client’s mechanic shop. The attorney then said that his client helped the police in the investigation.

The prosecutor stated that the complainant parked his Hummer, PRR 5795, with the items inside. Singh subsequently saw Smith entering the vehicle. The matter was reported to the police and the defendant admitted to receiving the items, the prosecutor added.

After granting Evans bail, Magistrate Judy Latchman adjourned the matter until March 26th.
