Kitty man charged with using fake US currency

A Kitty man was yesterday released on bail by a city magistrate after he denied two fraud charges stemming from his alleged use of counterfeit United States currency.

It is alleged that with intent to defraud, James McKenzie gave Karim Khan US$1,200, knowing same to be counterfeit, on March 6th, 2018, at Sheriff Street, Georgetown.

The second charge alleged that he gave the fake currency to Khan to obtain a radiator, valued, $30,000.

The man denied the charges.

The prosecutor made no objections to bail being granted and Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daly placed him on a total of $120,000 bail. The matter was subsequently adjourned until April 3rd.
