Relief council shelter not available for fire victims

The Guyana Relief Council stated yesterday that it is unable to facilitate anyone in its temporary shelter at Ruimveldt at the moment.

The question had been raised in the wake of a dozen displaced persons from a fire having to sleep under rough conditions at the Plaisance Community Centre.

Administrator for GRC Lynette Carter, speaking with this newspaper yesterday noted that the agency would have rendered their assistance to the victims but was unable to take in persons into the shelter as there were plumbing problems.

She noted that the issue was yet to be resolved and until that is done the building remains unoccupied.
