Fisherman chopped in row at Morawhanna

A fisherman is currently battling for his life at the Mabaruma Public Hospital after he was chopped multiple times by his drinking buddy on Saturday night.

The injured man, Henry Santiago of Smith Creek, Barima River is in a critical condition after he was attacked by a 22-year-old who is also a fisherman.

Police said Santiago and the suspect were at Morawhanna, when they “had an argument for no given reason,” at around 11.30 pm. As a result, Santiago chopped the suspect on his right foot. In retaliation the suspect broke a bottle and stabbed the victim in his abdomen before chopping him multiple times on his right hand.
