Two East Canje, Berbice residents were yesterday arrested and taken into police custody at the Weldaad Police Station after they were found with suspected cannabis.
Police yesterday said that ranks from the station were on a stop and search exercise on the Weldaad Public Road, West Coast Berbice when they received information about two men trafficking the narcotic.
Acting on the information, the ranks visited the location at Weldaad, WCB and saw the suspects proceeding on foot with two black bulky bags. Upon seeing the police vehicle, the two men, police said, threw two bulky parcels on the parapet of a trench.
The two black plastic bags were opened by the police and two bulky parcels wrapped in two salt bags were found with a quantities of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis. The men were cautioned on the discovery.
