Bandits rob Massy salesmen in Westminster attack

Armed bandits robbed a group of employees of Massy Distribution of over $300,000 in cash and valuables yesterday afternoon as they were about to take an order at a shop at Westminster, West Bank Demerara.

The attack occurred around 5pm after Davendra Lall Ramkissoon, 33, a driver/salesman of Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara, Elijah Ramadhar, 22, of Mocha, East Bank Demerara, Jerome McIntyre and Kevon Pollard, of Westminister, had just entered the shop.

While the men were taking the order, two men, who were both armed, rushed in, held them at gunpoint and demanded that they lay on the ground. The bandits then demanded cash and valuables, which were handed over.

Not satisfied with what was given to them, one of the suspects, a source told this newspaper, escorted Ramkissoon to the company truck, which was parked on the road, and demanded more money.

Ramkissoon handed over a quantity of cash which was kept in the truck, after which the bandit dealt him a blow to his face. The men then made good their escape.

The police were alerted and an investigation is ongoing.
