Sophia mason remanded for alleged armed robbery

A 24-year-old mason was yesterday remanded to prison for an alleged armed robbery.

The charge alleged that Patrick Goodluck of 72 Pike Street, Sophia, on February 25th at Pike Street, being armed with a gun robbed Felicity Carmichael of $50,000 cash, along with other articles having a total value of $276,000.

Goodluck pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The police prosecutor objected to bail being granted based on the seriousness of the offence and the fact that a firearm was used.

Goodluck’s attorney told the court that he was previously convicted for a similar offence and had been released from prison on February 13th. The attorney made a request for reasonable bail stating that the accused will return to court and that he will comply with any conditions

Magistrate Fabayo Azore then refused bail and adjourned the matter until May 2nd.
