Magistrate recuses herself from hearing ‘Zipper’ trial

Andre Gomes

The trial of accused cocaine trafficker Andre Gomes, known as ‘Zipper,’ was yesterday assigned to Magistrate Leron Daly after Magistrate Fabayo Azore recused herself from completing the matter.

The reason for Magistrate Azore recusing herself was not stated.

His trial had commenced before Magistrate Azore and two of the five witnesses had already testified. As a result of the magistrate recusing herself, the matter was then transferred to the Chief Magistrate’s court for reassignment. It was then reassigned to Magistrate Daly’s court, where the trial will recommence on April 26th.

The charge against Gomes, of Lot 32 Craig Street, Campbellville, states that on January 20th, 2018, at Craig Street, Campbellville, he had 992 grammes (equivalent to 2.1 pounds) of cocaine for trafficking in his possession.
