Cops destroy over 30,000 ganja plants in Ebini operation

Police on Thursday announced that they have destroyed around 30,000 cultivated marijuana plants, ranging from one to six feet in height, which were found on an acre and a half of land in ‘B’ Division (Berbice).

In a statement, Superinten-dent of Police Shivpersaud Bacchus said the plants as well as a quantity of seeds that were also found were destroyed by a team that went to Ebini, Upper Berbice River, for a drug eradication operation. The plants and seeds were burnt.

Bacchus noted that a 25-year-old resident of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, is in custody in connection with the cultivation.
