Homeless man accused of stealing GPOC wires

A homeless man was yesterday remanded to prison by a city court after he was charged with allegedly stealing insulation wires belonging to the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC).

It is alleged that Eon Paul on April 15th, at Robb Street, Georgetown, stole three insulation wires, valued $75,000, which was the property of the GPOC.

Paul pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Prosecutor Sanj Singh objected to bail being granted based on the seriousness of the offence and the fact that the accused has no fixed place of abode.

As a result, Magistrate Leron Daly denied bail and adjourned the matter until May 18th.
