Vendor stole $1.8M gold chains – court told

A vendor was yesterday remanded to prison on a charge that he stole gold chains valued at $1.8 million in an armed robbery attack.

Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daly read the robbery charge to Matthew Gasper. It was alleged that on March 28th, 2018, in Georgetown, while in the company of others and armed with a gun, he robbed Dennis Grant of two gold chains, valued at $1,800,000, and a Samsung Galaxy J7, valued at $71,000.

Gasper, of Lot 30 Hadfield Street, D’Urban Backlands, denied the charge.

He was, however, remanded to prison until May 25th, when his next hearing is slated.
