Welder remanded over phone snatching

A welder was on Monday remanded to prison for allegedly snatching a woman’s cellphone.

The charge alleged that Mark Mosely on May 6th at Demico Car Park, stole a Samsung Cellphone valued $30,000.

Mosely denied the allegation.

Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore objected to bail being granted based on the seriousness of the offence. On the day in question about 3.15 pm  the complainant was in the vicinity of the Demico Car Park when the defendant snatched the phone out of her hand and jumped into a taxi. He was forced out of the taxi and ran into a Route 47 minibus. An alarm was raised and as a result he was caught by the police with the phone in his possession.

Magistrate Judy Latchman then adjourned the matter until May 21st and remanded the man to prison.
