Hijacked car went from Kitty to Airy Hall

As investigators continue their probe into a recent carjacking, two persons were on Thursday arrested by the police following the discovery of a stolen motorcar at Airy Hall, Essequibo Coast.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Guyana Police Force Jairam Ramlakhan yesterday confirmed the arrest of the men who he said were detained after ranks went to a location at Airy Hall and recovered a Toyota Allion motorcar.

In a press release, Ramlakhan said the motorcar was stolen from Anthony Pickett, a resident of Pineapple Street, East Ruimveldt on March 14th in  Kitty.

The men remain in custody and are assisting with investigations.

Just two days ago, Edwin Angus, a 28-year-old labourer was remanded to prison after he was charged in relation to the same matter.  Angus appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court’s where he was read the charge which stated that on March 14, at Princes Street, in company of others and armed with a gun, he robbed Pickett of a Toyota car, valued at $2.2 million, a $35,000 LG phone, and $7,000 in cash.

He denied the allegation and was remanded to prison until May 30.
