A 43-year-old mother of four was yesterday remanded to prison on a ganja trafficking charge.
The charge stated that Joan Damon on May 9th at King Edward Street, Albouystown had in her possession 76 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
Damon denied the allegation.
The facts in relation to the charge presented by police prosecutor Sanj Singh stated that on the day in question ranks from the Criminal Investigation Department, Narcotics branch, acting on information received went to Damon’s home, contacted her and asked to conduct a search. Before the search was conducted Damon had asked to use the washroom and in the process of urinating she threw a white plastic bag over the eastern fence about three feet away. The bag was retrieved and in the bag were several small Ziploc bags that contained leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis. Damon was cautioned by the officers and she remained silent.
Magistrate Leron Daly adjourned the matter until June 8th and remanded the woman to prison.
