Cops nab suspect in Linden taxi driver’s murder

Corwyn Arthur, the man accused of fatally stabbing Linden taxi driver Claude De Jonge last week, was arrested on Thursday night on the West Coast of Berbice.

According to a police source, ranks working on information received arrested the man in a house at Blairmont, West Coast Berbice, sometime around 10.45 pm.

The source noted that the suspect, Arthur, also known as ‘Cross Eye,’ 34, of Central Amelia’s Ward, did not resist arrest.

The man is accused of stabbing taxi driver and construction worker De Jonge, 40, of South Amelia’s Ward, Linden.

The murder occurred on the morning of May 10th at the home of De Jonge’s common-law wife, located in Cinderella City, Mackenzie, Linden. Police had said in a statement that the attack occurred at around 12.10 am, while De Jonge and his wife, Onica Samuels, were asleep.
