A City Magistrate yesterday granted bail to a man charged with attempted murder.

Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman read the attempted murder charge to Chatterpaul Singh.

It is alleged that Singh, on July 4, 2016, at Sheriff Street, with intent to commit murder, wounded Chatanand Persaud.

Because the matter was laid indictably, Singh was not required to enter a plea.

The complainant in the matter told the court that he no longer wishes to proceed with the matter. He was, however, advised by the Magistrate to give a statement to the police stating same.

Singh was then placed on $100,000 bail and will appear before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on June 12.
