A lone bandit yesterday morning cornered a female customer in the Oasis Café on Carmichael Street and carted off a bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash.
A police official yesterday confirmed the incident with Stabroek News but noted that information remains sketchy since an official report of the crime was not made to the police up to yesterday afternoon.
Stabroek News learnt that the woman, whose name has not been released visited a city bank yesterday morning to withdraw the cash after which she stopped at the café.
While there she was cornered by the bandit who snatched the bag she had in her possession. The bag contained the cash and other valuables.
The bandit fled the scene on a motorcycle.
