Sex worker remanded on robbery charge

A 19-year-old sex worker was yesterday brought before a city magistrate to face a robbery charge.

It is alleged that Godfrey Cox, of 49 Princes Street, Werk-en-Rust, while armed with a knife, robbed David Harvey of $65,000 cash on June 20th, at King and Charlotte streets.

Cox denied the charge.

The court heard that Harvey was walking north along King Street when Cox approached him and held a knife to his throat, pushed his hands in his pocket and relieved him of the cash.

Prosecutor Sanj Singh objected to bail being granted, while noting that Cox had a pending matter of a similar nature before another magistrate.

As a result, Magistrate Leron Daly refused bail and remanded Cox to prison until July 20th, when his next hearing is scheduled.
