AFC hosting LGE candidates’ conference

The Alliance For Change (AFC) will today be hosting a conference for its Local Government Elections (LGE) candidates.

In a brief statement, the AFC LGE Campaign Communications Committee said the conference, which is being held at its Railway Embankment, Kitty, Georgetown headquarters, would see the participation of the “youngest slate” in the polls.

“This event is designed to both energise and educate our candidates. We look forward to the legendary AFC camaraderie and energy tomorrow as the candidates swarm in from all over the country,” party Leader Raphael Trotman was quoted as saying.

“It has taken a considerable amount of planning and logistical work to put together this conference but all has gone smoothly and the final arrangements are being put in place for a successful event,” Campaign Director David Patterson added.

The party explained that hundreds of LGE constituency candidates would be travelling from as far as Bartica, Corentyne, Kwakwani, Leguan and Linden to attend.

The party will host similar events in other regions on upcoming dates, it added.

According to the statement, candidates will be briefed on LGE rules and procedures and will receive a charge by party elder Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo. “Several candidates will deliver presentations in addition to presentations by party Chairman Khemraj Ramjattan, Vice Chair Cathy Hughes and Campaign Director David Patterson. The event will also see the launch of campaign jingles and the LGE Edition of The Key, the party’s newspaper,” it said
