ICAO Head arrives for aviation confab

Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu

President of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu arrived yesterday for a three-day air transport meeting here.

He touched down at the Cheddi Jagan International Air-port, Timehri. The meetings get underway today at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, Liliendaal according to a release from the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

On hand to receive the ICAO Council President was Director General of the GCAA, Lt. Col. (Ret’d) Egbert Field. 

Accompanying Dr. Aliu is the Director for North American, Central American and Caribbean Regional Office of ICAO, Melvin Cintron.

The release said that the three-day confab will also include the Third African Diaspora Conference on Friday at the same venue.

Issues to be discussed at the Air Transport Meeting include Harmonizing the Regional Air Transport Regulatory Framework, liberalization of air cargo, maximizing the economic benefits of aviation in the region, air transport and tourism among others.
