Six held after unlicensed shotguns found at two locations

The unlicensed 12-gauge shotgun and the 10 live rounds that were found at the family’s home at Hamper Bay.

Two families from Berbice and Essequibo are now in police custody after they were found in possession of unlicensed shotguns and matching rounds.

According to information coming from the Guyana Police Force, Police from ‘B’ Division, acting on information, went to a house at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice, around 4:55 pm yesterday and conducted a search. As a result, they found an unlicensed shotgun and four live cartridges and a male, along with his parents have been arrested.

More than an hour earlier, around 3:15 pm, the police in ‘F’ Division conducted a search of a house at Hamper Bay, Essequibo River, where they found an unlicensed 12-gauge shotgun and ten live cartridges. As a result, a female, her reputed husband and their son have been arrested.

The six persons are all currently in police custody assisting with the investigation.
