Smithfield poultry farmer remanded over cocaine trafficking

A Smithfield, New Amsterdam poultry farmer, accused of trafficking over 12 pounds of cocaine, was yesterday remanded to prison on a possession of narcotics charge.

The man, Trevor Edward Loo, 50, yesterday pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, when it was read to him by Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that Loo, on Friday, 16 November, had in his possession 5.631 kilogrammes (equivalent to 12.4 pounds) of cocaine.
