Man confesses to robbing northwest shopkeeper at gunpoint -police

A man who robbed a North West District (NWD) shopkeeper at gunpoint last Friday has been arrested and police are preparing to institute charges against him.

Public Relations Officer of the police force, Jairam Ramlakhan told Stabroek News that the 21-year-old is expected to be charged tomorrow.

According to information provided, the suspect on Friday robbed the shopkeeper, Denisa Stoll of an undisclosed sum of cash, raw gold and other valuables. The items are the property of a miner of  Matthews Ridge, NWD.

The robbery occurred at Bamboo Landing, NWD.

Information provided by the police revealed that the suspect was apprehended on Saturday and several items that were stolen were recovered.

During interrogation, he admitted to committing the crime and later took investigators to a location at Hell Hill, Matthews Ridge and handed over an unlicensed 9mm pistol with a magazine and nineteen live matching rounds.
