Moco Moco farmer held over ganja plants

A farmer of Moco Moco Village, Central Rupununi was on Saturday arrested by the  police after he was caught watering more than an acre of marijuana plants.

Stabroek News gathered that police in Lethem acting on intelligence went to the farm and found the one-and-a-half acres of cultivation. At the time, police said the 35-year-old farmer was seen watering the prohibited plants.

The field was cultivated with about 100 seedlings and 300 plants measuring between one foot and four feet.After investigators collected samples, the area was photographed. The plants were uprooted and destroyed by fire.

The suspect is being processed for court.
