Man accused of stealing over $300,000 in tools from store

A man who was yesterday charged for allegedly robbing a businessman of more than $300,000 worth of work materials, was placed on the sum of $75,000 bail when he appeared before a city court.

Alex Massiah, of 21 Middle Street, Georgetown, allegedly stole high-powered tools, amounting to $387,000. The tools were reportedly the property of Amar Rupie.

The incident is said to have occurred between the 2nd and 6th of November, 2018 at the victim’s store in Subryanville. Massiah, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which was read to him by Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Massiah was granted $75,000 bail by the magistrate and the matter was adjourned until December 19th.
